I’m heading home from class today, trying to ride as aggressive as possible. You know throwing hard carves, speed checking popping off curbs and all that fun stuff not even caring that its still super wet and sketchy out. Anyway not even a minute into my ride I pop off a curb and ride back onto this brand new cobblestone curb (this stuff is slippery when not even wet since it’s treated with some chemical) and try to throw a backside standup and the board just rockets from underneath me and I land on my ass and my hand (see pic).
Of course there were people around to watch all this go down as there always is when you take a spill. Anyway not a big deal, falling is a part of the game but had I been wearing my slide gloves I would only have a hurt ego and not a mangled hand, ah well at least its the left! Wearing safety gear like a helmet and especially slide gloves lets you be way more confident which translate into you becoming a better skater. Anyway remember guys don’t be afraid to fall, it’s usually not that bad and your not pushing your skating ability unless your taking some falls every once and awhile.
