Venom bushings has become one of the favorites among skaters for a few reasons, they are high quality and out perform pretty much any other skateboard bushing on the market.
The bushings come in a variety of shapes (cone, barrel, eliminator) to accomodate any riding type and styles you are into. For example, my downhill setup (Rayne Nemesis with Bear Trucks) uses an Eliminator boardside and a barrel groundside which allows me great turning ability without sacrificing stability.
The venom eliminator was made for downhill setups and has lots of urethane providing tons of rebound to keep your ride feeling lively. Most downhill setups would consist of double barrels with the harder bushing on the bottom or eliminator/barrel. It’s really personal preference so I encourage you to try as many different combos as you can.
In my pumping setup (Rayne Timeline) I use a Cone (85A) on the bottom and a barrel (85A) on top for my front truck (Bennett 5.0) and double barrels on the rear truck (Tracker RTS) and I couldn’t be happier. The cone/barrel combo really gives the board great turning ability and is a blast to pump around town. Cone style bushings are really designed for carving ability so don’t try and run them on a downhill setup or you may get a nasty case of the speed wobbles.
These bushings definitely run softer then most other bushings out there like Khiros and Bones so do keep that in mind. You want to make sure your not running your trucksĀ too tight or too lose by screwing the kingpin just tight enough to the point where there is no slop left in the truck hanger (you shouldn’t be able to move the truck without engaging the bushing).
Venom bushings are a great choice if your looking to completely change the feel of your ride and you’ll notice the difference after that first push. I used to be big into Khiros but I quickly lost interest in them after trying the Venoms out, the difference really is noticeable.
